The Oku community nationwide has been challenged to fight off their fears and to be confident that the new exco of the Oku cultural and development association OCDA will deliver on the promise of transparency, accountability and hope. Speaking shortly after an enlarged extra ordinary executive meeting of OCDA since his inauguration as the national president of this association last march, Mr. Keng Wilfred Nshom added that a common bond of love among the Oku was a recipe that was needed to redeem OCDA and Oku development.

While reciting that this wasn't time to recount the woes and losses of the past, Mr. Keng remarked that his executive had magnificent dreams for Oku and its people beginning with the launch of a fund raiser jamboree this July 9th at the Oku Fons palace plaza. Adding that time was of the essence, he said that this fundraiser would run till December 2016 in all OCDA home, national and international branches. “All Oku sons and daughters must know that we all mean business and we must carry our weight now behind OCDA," he noted. While pinpointing accountability and transparency as the main pillars of his regime, Mr. Keng pledged to flush out fugitives and debtors keeping any assets of this association in the past. He called on OCDA branches nationwide to be vigilant and steadfast for all upcoming events.

This new OCDA exco is dreaming over 60million Fcfa to be raised for feasible devt projects across Oku like the maintenance of schools, roads the Oku Fons palace plaza and some social amenities like health care units and water projects. During this enlarged exco meeting that saw the participation of three ad-hoc standing committees like the fundraiser, projects and socio- cultural, it was also unanimously agreed that the fund raiser bonanza at the Oku Fons palace would take the form of a cultural jamboree to grease the traditional culture and heritage of this community come December 2016.

Fearful of falling into the old habits of the past OCDA regimes, the new exco also underlined the creation of a bank account in (Afriland first bank) into which all donations and contributions for OCDA could be channeled by all and sundry within the national territory and abroad.

In line with the new vision of the organization which is to touch the masses, Mr. Keng and his team also articulated broad Base strategists to get all sons and daughters of “mnkong motehs” land involved in all OCDA upcoming events in 2016.

This executive that is just three months in office has recorded some remarkable trappings like the regularization of the legal status of OCDA by the administration recognizing the newly elected exco in line with the newly adopted constitution of the association and the institution of new national OCDA financial receipts booklets to easy donations and contributions to the Association by individuals, elites, branches, donors, friends and well-wishers of Oku.

It should be recalled that OCDA is the umbrella association for all socio cultural and development associations in the Oku fondom and this new exco whose mandate stands for three years has arduous task to reinvigorate a spirit of solidarity, accountability and above all confidence amongst the Okus.
